Hello, I have just joined this list. My doctor wants to put me on Aredia/Pamidronate. But after doing some research, I think I will ask him for Zometa instead. Aredia is a 2 hour IV and Zometa is only 15 min. Does anyone have any input on this. I have a dentist appt. next week and I don't really want to start Zometa until I find out if I need any dental work done. thanks! Susan

I just joined too! I'm a night owl. Anyway... My doctor gave me one treatment of Zometa and the next month when I went in she switched me to Aredia. She said she wasn't happy with some of the reports with Zometa and TMJ or something to do with the jaw. I hate the 1 1/2 hour aredia injection but I feel safe with getting it monthly. I also just switched from Femara to Faslodex. I just had my third shot. ouch!!they hurt!

I am doing weekly gemzar and hoping to add avastin to it as soon as medicare oks it. I did taxol/avastin in a trial 3 years ago and it really kicked butt, so hoping avastin added to gemzar will do the same. |

I think the Onc's are finding that Zometa is more implicated in the cause of ONJ (osteonecrosis of the jaw) than Aredia. I have so many side effects on Aredia over 2.5 hours, I now get it over 5 hours. EEK! ![]() No big deal really - I get my Aredia to go and a home care nurse comes by when it's done and unhooks and flushes the port. Many times, I have been found shopping in the mall with my fag bag full of cancer medicine!

Hi all, I am on Lupron shots monthly, tamoxifen and zometa infusion every 3 mos. Used to be every 2 mo but onc just changed this. I am getting my ovaries out on 10/3 so no more lupron.Yeah! Also onc will probably change me to arimidex after a few months. I did have genetic testing (39 at diagnosis)) and I am waiting for those results. If I am brca+ then maybe ooph will be changed to hysterectomy. I've had a spot on L3 since diagnosis. Had short dance w/NED in summer of '05, but spot still showed on last 2 Pets. At this point, I'll take stable. Trying not to get too obsessed with upcoming surgery. Anyone elso go through oopherectomy? Suzanne

Good morning: My monthly Aredia treatments are only one hour. I find it passes quickly and sometimes I take a nice little cat nap. zip |
